4XF 21: Luck?

[vc_row][vc_column][lab_heading title_tag=”H1″ title=”“I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have” – Thomas Jefferson”]This is a saying that I have seen over and over again throughout my life and it always rings true with me. It is so true. I found in my 20 year career as a Real Estate professional that, when I did something more or something extra that was attempting to create more contacts or meet more potential clients…I would literally get a phone call or run into someone that was ready to buy or sell real estate within 1 or 2 days. These “leads” would come from a whole other source. Just about every time it had nothing to do with the activity that I performed. Totally unrelated. Sometimes, it would be a phone call at the office or somebody would walk into the office looking for a real estate agent and I happened to be the only person there during that moment. Lucky? Sometimes I would get a phone call from someone that I bumped into a few months ago who is now ready to list or buy a home. Lucky?[/lab_heading][vc_column_text]Other times, I would get a random phone call from somebody that was referred to me from a happy client.  It felt “lucky”.  There are a lot of moments in the real estate business when you feel that luck is not on your side.  I get it.  You notice that another agent in your office seems to be lucky in getting business all the time.  I would encourage you to really look deeper at that person’s activities.  If you operate with intention every day with a pure intention to get more business then you will experience opportunities bumping right into you.  Luck will come your way.

I remember, sometimes it was an activity like phoning people out of the blue that I helped in the past, or dropping off some “just listed” flyers, or writing some “Thank you” cards to people, or calling up a strategic alliance and asking him if he has any clients or friends that needed my help.  Does everyone in your sphere of influence know that you are open for business?  In some instances, when I was all caught up after a flurry of business and then suddenly, I would come up for air and after the dust settled, I would take a look at my deal board and review my goals, and then feel like I had to get creative to get some more business happening.  That sense of urgency would kick in.  As an example, I would maybe identify some builders that I would like to work with and put together a letter or head up to some job sites to potentially meet some builders to get more business happening.  Then I would totally fail.  No business would come from Builders, but I would get a call from something totally unrelated.  Did I fail?  Not really.  I was seed planting.  You really can’t fail at that.  (this is a whole other topic).

Just do the work and trust in the fact that you may not get business directly from that activity immediately but just because you are doing the work, something will come to you.  Trust in it.  Put in the work, and the rewards will come.  Call it luck if you want but I really think that Thomas Jefferson was being facetious when he made that quote.  Hard work is rewarded with opportunity every single time.

What creative  – “business getting” activity will you get to this week?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
